The purpose of this blog is to inform and document my battle with PTSD. I have learned to accept that I may always have this disorder for the rest of my life. However, it doesn't have to BE my life. Thanks to my supportive family and friends, I have successfully progressed in all aspects of life; career, academics, activities, etc.
My PTSD is related to a sexual assault several years ago. It has affected me deeply in that not only was my body violated, but my trust in the legal system is almost nil. My name was dragged through the mud and my character attacked. Thankfully, my family and friends (both old and new) have remained at my side and continue to be supportive.
As I was going through this experience, I kept a journal to record my thoughts and feelings. Some have been re-written with a reflection about how I perceive those events today and are posted on this blog.
The posts below are a brainstorm of ideas that will eventually lead to published material.
